October's Top Picks

FILM
October is now here. Leaves are browning and falling off. But this one of our favourite months! We're all looking forward to its trick or treat ending. A "treat" for most is actor Tom Hardy, the "trick" is... he's playing a dark oozy super villain. This is another marvel film with a slightly darker feel. This black tar/slime/goo is an alien symbiote that fuses with Hardy forming a grotesque Spider-Man antihero: 'Venom'.

You must check out some of posters and artwork for this film, they're amazing. Venom lends himself to satisfying splatters of ink. Perhaps the web slinging saviour will make a cameo?

Johnny English: Strikes Again is our comedy pick if you're one to avoid spooky October. The British buffoon is back for a third instalment. Rowan Atkinson reprises his role as the secret agent who resembles most British politicians than a Bond spoof. Firing missiles at French cyclists, accidental arson in a restaurant and a virtual reality fiasco are just some of the antics he gets up to.

TV
Our Netflix original series choice for this month is the 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.' Her 16th birthday is closing in and Sabrina must choose between magical family or mortal friends. This coming of age saga seems a little more macabre than the 90's sitcom especially with an episode inspired by the exorcist.

We're appealing to all this month. Monsters, witches and now aliens! We can confirm it's the 7th October. The extra-terrestrial general practitioner is back. Check out the latest trailer for the return of Dr WHO.

MUSIC
Last month we predicted Benny Blanco's 'Eastside' (with Halsey and Khalid) would climb to the top of the charts. It did. We're doubtful we could call it twice in a row but here's a collection of some of the music you're likely to hear before Halloween.

We're featuring this single remix of 'In My Mind' in our picks. It has a high pitch and haunting sound. A little bit chilling in the club if you ask us. Let's hope it lingers in the chart a little longer. Creepy but catchy. Little is known about Dynoro but he could be the new and upcoming Lithuanian answer to Avicii.

The androgynous Héloïse Letissier "Christine" from Christine and the Queens dropped the album 'Chris' towards the end of September. The chart might be left "tilted" in her direction this autumn.

Early October is the release of Twenty-One Pilots' Trench album. The dark themes in their lyrics are hidden so well in melodies you will definitely have heard. Let's see if Trench keeps up the momentum of their 'Ride.'

Forever Neverland is released in the 2nd half of October: 19th. We all remember her collaboration with Major Lazer with 'Lean On' and it's clear she hasn't had her 'Final Song'. MØ will definitely drop more anthems. Wonder who she'll collaborate with next?

FOOD / DRINK
We're allowed to indulge once in a while. Here's a little treat for us during autumn and of course they're "pumpkin spiced". You'll have to order them from the States but it might be worth it for something special and in keeping with this time of the year.

What else is trending?... Well Gin has been doing well latterly and we think we know what flavour we'll be seeing quite a bit of this year: gingerbread Gin. We're calling it.
