If you could choose another circus act to perform what would it be? I'd love to be able to master the Chinese Pole!  Mohamed is definitely one of the most stylish members of our cast! 5. Do you have a routine or ritual before the show? I always have to warm up before the show. I like to put on some music and do stretches with the rest of the warriors. Gina's Butlins blogs

Image
Have you been following Gina Morales's Butlins blogs on our Gandey's Circus blog? Gina - one half of the amazing Las Chicas Morales - has been keeping us updated on her time at Butlins Skegness, and giving us all an insight into the life of a circus performer. It's a fascinating read! Here's what she's been up to so far! Week One - From the Top! Well we have officially been at Butlins Skegness for a week... and what a week its been! Naturally after a holiday and some time off from work arriving at Butlins and jumping straight back into rehearsals, training, performing and putting on the extravagant show makeup was.. well.. what can I say… we were all slightly out of practice! Guest post: A breathtaking evening at the Chinese State Circus

Image
The following review was originally published on the Plutonium Sox Family Blog  and has been posted here with the kind permission of the author. ------------------------------------------------------- A breathtaking evening at the Chinese State Circus There aren’t many evenings out that are fun for the whole family. Entertainment after a certain time tends to be aimed at adults and whilst children are often welcome, it’s not necessarily much fun for them. One clear exception is the circus. And as circuses go, the Chinese State Circus is by some distance the best I’ve ever seen. About the Chinese State Circus The Chinese State Circus is world famous for skilful performances that wow the audience. The team comprises 30 acrobats, jugglers, aerial artists and Shaolin Warriors. Each act is a few minutes long before moving on to a different act. There isn’t a moment when the audience isn’t transfixed by the stage. Unlike many such shows, the Chinese St...

Gandey's Circus - What You Need to Know

Image
Gandey's Circus is currently touring the UK! You may have already seen it on our tour, or perhaps you've seen the posters or heard the Ringmaster Binky on the radio. How much do you actually know about Gandey's Circus, though? What is it? An all-human spectacular thrill circus! The award-winning show features an array of nearly 30 international artistes. Bringing together world-class performers, new and innovative presentation techniques and unparalleled sound, lighting and costumes, all staged within a state-of-the-art Big Top – Gandey’s is now firmly established as the UK’s premier touring circus. Where does it come from? Gandey’s Comedy Circus sprang into life at the turn of the 20th century. Conceived by founder Bob Gandey (1894 – 1953), it started out as a touring revue-style stage presentation. The show played in all the top theatres across the country, as well as many smaller venues. It quickly found success with a Western theme. Bob Gande...

The Chinese State Circus - What You Need to Know

Image
The Chinese State Circus is currently touring the UK! You may already know this from our social media, or maybe you have seen and heard about it locally if it's heading to your area. You may even have caught the stars with Andi Peters on Good Morning Britain last week! How much do you actually know about the Chinese State Circus, though?  We decided to give you a rundown of everything you need to know, in bite-sized chunks! What is it? The Chinese State circus is currently touring with a new production - 'Dynasty'. The show brings an art form that has thrilled audiences for more than 2,000 years into a contemporary setting. It tranforms low-tech everyday objects into hi-tech acrobatic equipment. Hurtling porcelain jars...dynamically spinning plates...balancing upon gigantic pyramids of tables and chairs framed by the delicate strands of silk supporting cascading aerialists. Where does it come from? China! That's the short answer....

A day at the circus

Image
We had a new starter last week. So we thought, 'what better way to introduce somebody to Gandey World Class Productions than to send them to the Gandey's Circus'! It turned out that not only had he never been to one of our circuses before... he'd never been to any circus! Here are his thoughts: ---------------------------------------------------- I've never been to the circus before. Well, that's not strictly true. I don't remember ever going to the circus.  I'm told by my parents that they did take me once when I was about four years old, but my older brother didn't like the clowns - so we never went back. I have a hazy recollection of elephants performing in the ring (back when the the use of animals was commonplace), but I don't know if it's a real memory, or a false one picked up vicariously through television. So, when I was asked to visit Gandey's Circus in Aintree last Friday, as an introduction to m...
