Glasgow City Break
In this short post, we've put together some of the best and specific to this Scottish city offers you.
One of our productions is situated next to the Riverside Museum this year. So, we're featuring the Wonder Woman who designed this striking and sharp-edged building: Zaha Hadid. She is most certainly a visionary thanks to her innovations in modern architecture. She's the 'Queen of Curve'!
Zaha Hadid (1950-2016)
Dame Zaha Hadid could be described as the most prestigious female Iraqi-British architect to date. She's won numerous prizes and medals. She was the only woman to be awarded a royal gold medal from the Royal Institute of British architects and designed the 2017 Brit award statue.

Her legacy continues as the Al Wakrah Stadium is still under construction. This stadium will host the 2022 FIFA World Cup. The concept and inspiration comes from the sails of traditional Dhow boats used by pearl divers in the Persian Gulf. The outside seems as though it'll be pearlescent itself.

Speaking of football... Glasgow has the first ever recorded international game of footy. 1872 saw Scotland and England (ironically) not playing 0-0.
Glasgow or 'Glaschu' in Gaelic means green hollow and is more than the infamous mars bar battered. Glaswegians call turnips and potatoes "neeps and tatties." These usually accompany Haggis which is their national delicacy. Onion, salt and spice help bring out the best from the sheep's liver, lungs and heart. Oatmeal is used to bind and stomach keeps it together.
All washed down with Scotland's most notable soft drink: IRN BRU or 'ginger'.
*Note in Edinburgh "ginger" means juice but in Glasgow it's fizzy pop!
The Finnieston - a relaxed restaurant and cocktail bar specialising in locally-sourced seafood and bespoke beers.
Elena's Spanish Bar and Restaurant - From Santander, Elena brings to Glasgow an authentic Northern Spanish dining experience.
The Butcher Shop Bar and Grill - This looks like the perfect place for a steak or burger. The dark suave set up seems very inviting.
The 78 - Not everyone is mad about meat so we've found somewhere that is "100%" vegan. It has a rustic charm with mismatching furniture, interesting animal-free dishes with plenty of drinks to choose from. This maybe the future especially now Hellmann's vegan mayonnaise is hitting UK shelves soon.

Like the Riverside Museum, we've found some brilliant experiences around Glasgow you can participate in without any money whatsoever. You could go see the Botanic Gardens full of lush well plant life. Or maybe you should see something spooky during the autumn period. Why not visit Glasgow's Cathedral and Necropolis?
