November's Top Picks

FILM
We have two films we want to see this November. And why not? The temperature has plummeted so pass us the popcorn!

Firstly, there's a new live action Disney film that looks very seasonal! The Nutcracker and the Four Realms is an adaptation of the short story "The Nutcracker and the Mouse King" and has been since adapted in the form of The Nutcracker Ballet.

The Nutcracker and the Four Realms

In this 2018 film Clara embarks on a quest to find a key and restore harmony to worlds. She traverses though realms of snow, flowers and sweets. A dreaded fourth realm is encountered too. Inhabitants include, mice, soldiers and a sugar plum fairy! The costumes and set design alone look so pretty and festive. This definitely seems a little "Alice in Wonderland".

If we haven't given you enough magic already, this one might do the trick! It's the sequel in the Fantastic Beasts franchise. This time it's 'The Crimes of Grindelwald' and we can see it on the big screen from the 16th November.

 Fantastic Beasts: Crimes of Grindelwald

The ominous Grindelwald has escaped custody and is recruiting pure-blood wizards to rule over all other non-magical beings. That's right, muggles included (like you and me). A younger Albus Dumbledore and Newt Scamander (Jude Law and Eddie Redmayne). The wizarding world is dividing and danger is growing. Newt attempts to rectify or even "stupefy" Grindelwald's wrongdoings.

TELEVISION
Who doesn't love his documentaries? Louis Theroux is back this November with a three-part documentary on BBC TWO: Altered States. The first of trilogy airs on the 4th of November.

Theroux will be exploring new life, love and loss in the United States of America. He sensitively uncovers alternative and forward thinking. He suggests there is "utopia" and "idealism" woven in his interviewees' experiences. However, he does believe "new risks" are a result. His subject matter is always controversial but he's returning to the foundations of life in this series.

MUSIC
What will be hearing this November? Here's what you've probably heard so far this autumn.

1. Shallow - A Star Is Born

An experienced musician who coxes a struggling musician into the spotlight, whilst struggling with inner demons. Ironically, Gaga is the struggling musician.

2. Queen songs - Bohemian Rhapsody

This biopic homes in on the iconic lead singer of Queen: Freddie Mercury. The film spans the growth of the band, Freddie's solo career pursuit, AIDS diagnosis and Live Aid. "Easy come easy go". Easy watch?

So, what might you hear in the coming month?

The girl group Little Mix are dropping their fifth album: LM5. You can listen to it on route to see Fantastic Beasts. They've already released 'Woman Like Me' featuring Nicki Minaj.

MUSE have a new album this month: Simulation Theory. If it's as vibrant as their cover art...

The 1975 have their album lined up for the end of November: A Brief Inquiry into Online Relationships.

Here's some of the best things you can do in Belfast completely free!

Nearly 5000 miles away from Belfast the beaches are back open!

India's state, Goa, is set to re-open its beaches from the start of November. The surroundings here look gorgeous and there's no wondering why they attract almost 8 million tourists each year (half of which are foreign nationals).
