April's Top Picks

A new month is here which means it’s time for another blog post with our top picks for this month! Spring may be arriving a little late this year with the weather, but none the less our minds are already in Spring mode, we’re picturing sunshine and outdoor activities!

·        Film

Love, Simon
“Everyone deserves a great love story. But for seventeen-year old Simon Spier it’s a little more complicated: he’s yet to tell his family or friends he’s gay and he doesn’t actually know the identity of the anonymous classmate he’s fallen for online. Resolving both issues proves hilarious, terrifying and life-changing.”
The film is said to be a beautiful tale of Simon’s story of coming out, it has been a brilliant way for young adults to identify with their sexuality and has helped parents with accepting their child’s coming out.
The film is directed by Greg Berlanti (Riverdale, The Flash, Supergirl), screenplay by Elizabeth Berger & Isaac Aptaker (This is Us) and is based on the novel Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli. The film stars Nick Robinson (Melissa & Joey, Jurassic World) and Katherine Langford (13 Reasons Why).

·        Music

The Greatest Showman, Motion Picture Cast Recording
The soundtrack to The Greatest Showman is currently number 1 on the album charts, and we have to agree that it’s our current favourite. Not that we’re biased as a Circus or anything…

·       Restaurant

Sketch
Sketch in London is a restaurant that is receiving a lot of positive comments on the internet lately. Becoming famous for its ‘egg’ shaped toilet pods and pink interior, the restaurant is becoming an Instagram star of its own.

·       Fashion

What’s trending S/S18?
Block colours seem to be coming in by storm lately, and everyone is styling them in unique yet retro ways. I may be a bit too keen for summer, but my top pick for a fashion item is this beautiful block red summer dress from ASOS. I’m a little punk/grungy in the way I style my outfits so I’d probably pair this with some Dr Marten boots and a black leather jacket, but you could easily turn this into the perfect holiday dress with some sandals and a cute straw bag!

·       Days & Nights Out

Gandeys Circus and The Lady Boys of Bangkok

Obviously in our opinion these are the best two outings going at the moment! Why not bring your family to one of Gandey’s The Greatest Showmen tour at your nearest show! And then follow it up with a night out with your best friends to our magnificent and glamorous cabaret show The Lady Boys of Bangkok on our Wonder Women tour! The perfect excuse to get dressed up in your most glittery outfit!
