Top 10 Festive Films...

In the run up to Christmas there’s certain things we do each year to bring on that festive feeling. We put up Christmas decorations, eat all of the mince pies, cry in the middle of shopping centres stressing about buying gifts and of course, watch Christmas films.

To make sure your head is in holiday mode – we have created a list of the top 10 Christmas films that are guaranteed to make you feel joyful and ready for the big day.

If you love Tom Hanks like we do, you will love this film as he basically voices all of the characters (Well, 6 of them). This feel-good favourite is about a young boy embarking on a journey to the north pole on the Polar Express, where he finds that life is wonderful if you believe. It’s all very cheesy and warm and we love it!

Need we say more?
This romantic film includes Hollywood stars; Cameron Diaz, Jude Law, Jack Black and Kate Winslet. The story revolves around two women (Diaz and Winslet) who want a change in their lives and so swap homes for the Holidays. If you want an easy watch that’ll make you feel all fuzzy inside this one is for you.

We’ve all heard the song, we’ve all gone ridiculously out of tune when singing to it. There is no excuse not to watch The Snowman this year as it is 26 minutes long – that’s it.
It’s magical and as Christmassy as it gets, originally released in 1982 remained this is one of the classics.

Although more of a romcom, Love Actually is arguably one of the best Christmas films.
9 lives and 9 stories are intertwined in this romantic spectacular with some of the biggest names in the biz, including; Hugh Grant, Liam Neeson, Emma Thompson, Colin Firth, Kiera Knightley, Alan Rickman, Bill Nighy and so many more.
(You’ve probably already seen it, as it’s shown most weeks on ITV but we definitely recommend a re-watch, especially if you’re looking to feel festive!)

This film is so good it’s been made twice. First hitting our screens in 1947 and again in 1994 both films are just as incredible as one another. Basically it’s about nobody believing Santa IS Santa, there’s a whole lot of judgement and tears, but it’s a cracker (get it..?).

This adaptation of the tale by Dr. Seuss sees the Grinch, played by the hilarious Jim Carey, try to steal and ruin Christmas for the happy people of Whoville.
SPOILERS: It’s a happy ending.
This classic is one of our favourites, we hope you love it as much as we do!

Originally written by Charles Dickens, A Christmas Carol has had many an adaptation over the years but whichever you decide to watch, they’re all great! (Our favourites ‘The Muppets Christmas Carol’).
The story tells the tale of Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.
It’s a family favourite and it has a good message – but mostly, its Christmassy!

This film is basically Child Line’s worst nightmare. The story is based around Kevin (Macaulay Culkin), who gets left behind by accident as his family go to Paris for the holidays.
We won’t say too much because we don’t want to give the plot away! But trust us, it’s a must!

2. Elf

Now if you’ve not already seen this one, we won’t judge (we might a little).
Elf is the story of Buddy the Elf, who grows up in the North Pole but after realising he’s very different to the other elves he takes a trip to find his real Father. We won’t spoil anymore, but it’s a must!
Oh, and it’s got Will Ferrell in it.

Despite not being particularly ‘with the times’, this Christmas film is a corker!
First released in 1946, the film revolves around George Bailey who has given up his dreams to help others. It’s the ultimate feel-good-festive treat and guaranteed to make you smile.

2016 Recap...

Our 2016 recap actually begins in late 2015 in Hong Kong.
On the 21st of December 2015 the Royalles British Thrill Circus packed up their red, white and blue big top and headed over to one of the biggest cities in the world to take part in the Tung Wah Charity Carnival. Along with their world class performers from England, Scotland, Columbia, Kenya, Mexico and Morocco.

For the 3 months that the performers were in Hong Kong they performed their mesmerising acts to hundreds of audience members all in aid of a great cause - The Tung Wah Group of Hospitals.

Meanwhile, in the UK the first 2016 show was the Gandeys ‘YourCircus Awakens’ 2016 tour.
The opening night of the show was the 11th February in Liverpool and from here it was non-stop for those involved, as the Circus went from city to city across the UK entertaining thousands of people over a course of 7 months before drawing to a close at Merry Hill in Birmingham on the 30th of October.

During this time the glamorous Lady Boys of Bangkok flew over to the UK from Thailand ready from their weeks of rehearsals for their 2016 ‘Forever Yours…x’ tour. The Lady Boys hit the stage in Great Britain on the 1st of April for their opening night in Derby in the specifically tailored Sabai Pavilion.

The Lady Boys graced audiences both in their big top venue and in theatres across the UK before recently ending their time with us on the 25th of November at the Sands Centre in Carlisle. Not before stopping off for their annual stint at the Edinburgh Fringe festival for the month of August!

As the end of the year drew near, the final show to close its curtains was the Chinese State Circus
On the 7th of September, this year the Chinese State Circus brought us their 2016 production of ‘Dynasty’.

Dynasty consisted of 30 world-class Chinese acrobats, aerial artistes, and jugglers all providing non-stop action to their audiences in theatres across the UK.
The Chinese State Circus travelled to 35 different venues over three months before finishing off the 3rd of December in Torquay at the Princess Theatre.

Who's got the X Factor...

So it’s that time of year again when king of the talent shows, Simon Cowell, attempts to capture the hearts (and the wallets) of the nation with the next ‘Big Thing’ in music.

If you’re not familiar with the X Factor concept, it’s basically a talent show whereby big names in the music biz (This year’s include: Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osborne, Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh) decide who has the ‘X Factor’ – AKA who can bring in the ratings, no matter how ridiculous they may be (*cough* Honey-G *cough*).

This year we saw Matt Terry take the crown with his winner’s single – When Christmas Comes Around.

We’re actually quite impressed that this year, X Factor bosses enlisted the help of (actually mega-talented) Ed Sheeran to write the song and it had a Christmas theme – guaranteed to bag that infamous Number 1 slot in the chart’s, right?

Let’s take a trip together down memory lane and remember those who have gone before… and see where they are now.

The X Factor was first on our screens in 2004 when Steve Brookstein was named the first champion of the show setting the bar for future hopefuls.
Steve won the competition with his one and only single ‘Against All Odds’, before shortly after being dropped by his label and is now working on a cruise line.

2005 had Shayne Ward win the show – after an averagely successful music career you can now see him as a starring character in Coronation St.

The 2006 winner was Leona Lewis, who has probably has had the most successful musical career with 3 Grammy's under her belt, she can now be seen starring in Andrew Lloyd Webber’s ‘Cats’.

2007 brought us Leon Jackson with the ballad ‘When You Believe’ –  he seems to have disappeared off the radar for a while, however is now back writing and recording music to give it another shot!

Steve Brookstein, Shayne Ward, Leona Lewis and Leon Jackson

2008 saw Alexandra Burke as the nation’s favourite – she won with a cover of ‘Hallelujah’. She can also be seen on the stage in the hit West End show, The Bodyguard.

2009 was the year for Geordie boy Joe McElderry with his cover of ‘The Climb’ – sadly this was beaten to the number 1 spot by Rage Against the Machine in an anti-x factor campaign. He is now donning a Technicolour DreamCoat in the UK tour.

2010 had Matt Cardle win by covering a Biffy Clyro song. It did the job though, as Matt is still touring the UK and writing new music.

2011’s winners were too very successful. Little Mix won the nations hearts (a favourite of  The Lady Boys of Bangkok) and were the first group to win the X Factor with their single ‘Cannon Ball’. They are now touring in arenas worldwide with their fourth album which has recently hit the top of the charts.

Alexandra Burke, Joe McElderry, Matt Cardle and Little Mix

In 2012 James Arthur won with a cover of ‘Impossible’ before shortly after too disappearing from existence. However, recently he has had a huge comeback with ‘Say you won’t let go’ which rocketed straight to number 1.

2013 had Sam Bailey with yet another cover, winning the show with ‘Sky Scraper’. She too was shortly after let go by her label and is now digging into her own pockets to fund a new album.

2014 saw Ben Haenow win over runner up Fleur East with ‘Something I Need’, shortly after releasing his second single with Kelly Clarkson, Ben was another to be dropped by Simon and his label but is still writing new music.

In 2015 Louisa Johnson won with her cover of Bob Dylan’s ‘Forever Young’. Sadly the track didn’t make the top of the charts but her recent efforts with her single with Clean Bandit and her song ‘So Good’ are looking promising for the singer. We are still waiting for her album.

Which brings us to this year and Matt Terry – Hoping to claim that Christmas number 1 spot! What do you think of this years winner? Well, you can buy his single here.

Driving Experiences, Lady Boy Shows, Edible Bubbles - The Perfect Christmas Gift Guide!

We all know how hard it can be trying to find the perfect gift for your family and friends year after year. You plan on getting them something really special, something they will truly love or need… then settle for a fragrance or some new Pj’s because the stress of choosing something was just too much to handle. You are not alone, we have all been there.

So with Christmas fast approaching we thought we could inspire you with our very own Christmas Gift Guide, making sure this year your presents are just that little bit more…shall we say.. adventurous?!

Now everyone says how hard it is to shop for a woman… well we think its even harder to shop for a man.
There are only so many male grooming kits, socks, and jackets they need in a year and as much as I am sure they love them, we, the women of the world, do not love picking up after them. So we had a look at what other options are out there.

How about a day to remember? A gift that they will love and a memory for a lifetime!

Red Letter Days offer a Rally driving experience day that we think is perfect for Dads or older brothers who are lovers of testing their skills in hand break turns or power slides!

Alternatively for the high speed motor heads, those who prefer a little class in their ride, Buy a Gift offer a driving experience in not one but two cars from choices such as Ferrari, Lamborghini and Aston Martin. Here you not only get to drive the cars yourself but then get to experience being driven round by a professional!
With 25% discount this could be the ultimate Christmas gift you have been looking for.

Cousins…we all have them, some cousins we are close to, others not so much, or its those cousins who aren't your cousins but you’ve known them so long you call them your cousins.. well whoever they are, how about a little gift for them?

We think this year, gadgets are the way to go! If this tickles your fancy, Red5 is a site to check out, whatever your price range you are sure to find a brilliant gift even when on a tight budget. Laser keyboards seem to be getting quite popular for the computer wiz, as are the Vizor glasses to get a real virtual world experience when watching a film or one of those 360 horror clips.

Red5 also sell non gadget related presents - but that are still quirky and original. They have Jedi bathrobes for the Star Wars fanatic, and for all the ladies (or any unicorn fan) Firebox bring you the unicorn nightlight or better yet they also offer a unicorn onesie -because we all have that one friend/sibling who is a lover of all things pink and fluffy.

Another favourite find of ours were the edible bubbles! suitable for all, entertaining and yummy - what's not to love with this cheap and cheerful gift!?! What makes this gift even better is that you add your own flavour.. yes.. that means you can make it alcoholic too.

Now for the ladies, (it depends who you are buying for) but what about really treating your female friend this Christmas with the most sought after garments this season from Victoria's Secret. Yes, it is a little pricey but after the infamous Victoria's Secret Fashion Show it'll be high up on their wish list! (and it is Christmas after all).

But what about Mum. We all want to spoil our lovely mums at Christmas time, to show how appreciative we are for all that they do…and lets face it, some men could do with some serious help in this department.

Women love a pamper day, you can do this by buying them some scented candles from The Body Shop and a pamper kit from Marks and Spencer. Or even treat her to a whole pamper day out, Virgin offer a Spa day for two  so you get in on the experience.

Does Mum now have a collection of lotions and creams that sit on the bathroom shelf and you want to give her something completely different this Christmas?

Well how about something fun, a little bold and a serious chance for her to have an experience of a life time?

Well look no further, we have the best idea out there. The Ladyboys of Bangkok offer a 2 hour show, Thai cuisine a bar and exclusive package deals that are sure to meet all your needs for an incredible night out!

In actual fact their package deals are so good at the moment - including a 20% off deal exclusive to December bookings, why not go the whole hog and get tickets for your mum, aunt, sister, mother in law, neighbour, neighbours dog - whoever! And have a girly night out with the Lady boys of Bangkok.

With all these ideas and options on things to buy, do and see you will be well and truly prepared for this Christmas (and definitely the families favourite).

Victoria's Secret Fashion Show 2016

The Victoria’s Secret fashion show is arguably the biggest fashion event of the year and it took place last week in Paris with some of the brands hottest angels taking to the runway.

Although the show took place on the 30th of November it wasn’t aired until last night (5th) in the USA and unfortunately for us Brits, we won't see it on our screens until the 12th of December on 4Music. BUT that doesn’t stop us from taking a gander on the released pictures from the event.

After making their debut in 2015, Gigi Hadid and Kendall Jenner returned to the catwalk looking more stunning than ever in their outrageously fabulous outfits.

Amongst these were other long-reigning angels, all as beautiful as one another.

It was hard to pick which of the outfits we preferred but after much deliberation we narrowed it down, and here are a few of our favourite looks from this year’s show...

Cindy Bruna

This year, it was Jasmine Tookes who was chosen to wear the infamous Fantasy Bra, worth a whopping $3 Million! Way out of our Lady Boys of Bangkok’s diamante dreams (and budgets).

Jasmine Tookes

It’s not just all about the models however. The Victoria’s Secret annual fashion show is known for hosting some of the biggest music stars of the minute – and 2016 did not disappoint with huge names; Lady Gaga, TheWeekend and man of the moment, Bruno Mars.
